THE STABALITO STORY
MIAMI, 2020
It started when everything stopped.
When the pandemic shut everything down, Saul Ancona drove to Miami and spent the quarantine by the water. He had just finished at NYU with law school at Brooklyn waiting on the other side of the summer — a strange gap of time with nothing scheduled in it.
He kept looking for a pair of trunks that were both genuinely comfortable and worth wearing to dinner, and kept not finding them. So he spent the gap making them. Stabalito came out of that summer.

An artist who practices law.
Saul practices law full time and makes art under the name Jester. Stabalito is where the two meet: the discipline of one and the eye of the other, in a garment rather than on a canvas.
His work turns up throughout the brand — in the prints, in the details, and in the way a colourway gets chosen.
